Casting Rail is a speculative design for a studio space within a Brighton beach box. to be occupied by British sculptor Rachel Whiteread. Whiteread's practice influenced the design heavily. Drawing inspiration from how she casts the negative space around everyday objects, I designed a shelving system that had held spaces specific to each of her sculpting tools. All the furniture within the space can be easily moved as it is attached to a rail on the ceiling. This allows the small confines of the beach box to be navigated easily.
