A model I designed to support the piece
traditionally childish
Traditionally Childish is a jewellery piece that combines the 'traditional' jewellery aesthetic with a playful aesthetic often associated with children. The gold detailed beads were collected from old costume jewellery often worn with sarees in Sri Lanka. To contrast this I sculpted animal characters from Janaki Sooriyarachchi's children's novels using clay. The characters add a pop of colour to the piece as well as a change in terms of materiality.
